Home » Apps » Apple is to blame: Spotify loses practical function for volume control
Spotify is removing a practical function from its app. Apple is said to be to blame for this, as it is said to have made the feature unstable by making changes to its interfaces. In the end, users probably won’t care who is responsible for the loss of ease of use.
In a few days, Spotify will lose a feature that was quite useful: the ability to control the playback volume on other connected devices such as smart speakers or smart TVs. This is currently still possible by pressing the volume buttons directly on the iPhone. However, this will soon no longer work.
Function disappears from Spotify Connect
Instead, the user has to use a new slider in the app. Whenever the volume buttons on the iPhone are pressed while a device is connected via Spotify Connect, a corresponding notification should be displayed.
For the user, however, this means a reduced ease of use for this function and the blame for this should lie with Apple.
Spotify: Apple broke feature
Apple made sure that this functionality had to be changed, quote Media reports Spotify. The iPhone company changed the corresponding APIs in such a way that the feature became unstable and could no longer be used.
Apple, Spotify continues, continues to deny Spotify access to the technologies Apple Music uses when content is played on connected devices.
Spotify added that this behavior could be a violation of the EU’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). If the EU adopts this position, Apple could be forced to make adjustments in this area.
