‘Apple is struggling with shortages of iPhone chips for energy management’

This may cause Apple to struggle to meet demand in the busy holiday season, insiders say Bloomberg. It is not clear how big the shortages are, but it is known that Apple will sell the largest numbers of iPhones during the holidays.

Despite the shortages, suppliers are said to give Apple priority over other customers who ask about the scarce chips for energy management. 5G in particular would require better energy management, as 5G uses more energy than 4G.

Apple uses chips from different manufacturers. When taking the iPhone 12 Pro apart, the site found iFixit chips from Texas Instruments for powering the camera, a chip from Qualcomm for the camera and a chip from STMicroelectronics. There is also a chip designed by Apple for energy management in the iPhone 12.
