The California technology giant was already to negotiate with several traditional car manufacturers. Now it is said that Toyota’s turn came.

Apple’s electric car project, most commonly referred to as the Apple Car, was considered dead for several years. In recent months, however, there has been some speculation that Apple has negotiated its production with a number of established automakers, including Hyundai, Nissan and Magna.
We have never received any extensive information on the outcome of these negotiations, but it is generally assumed that no agreement was reached with any of the named companies in the end. But according to DigiTimes, Apple has a new potential partner. Representatives of the technology giant should now allegedly negotiate with representatives of Toyota in Asia.

So far, there is almost no specific information on the negotiations, so it is not clear where the representatives met, how the negotiations took place or proceeded, and what was their main topic. According to DigiTime, however, one of the main topics could be, for example, the supply of batteries. After all, it is clear from the beginning that the Apple Car will be an electric car.
On the topic of batteries, Apple representatives were to discuss the South Korean companies SK Group and LG Electronics in August, which are among the largest players in the supply of batteries for electric vehicles. However, other supply companies could be at stake.
According to speculation, which was pointed out by colleagues from Motor1, Apple wants to start production of its own electric car in 2024. The primary goal of the current negotiations should be to create and secure supply chains.

According to Reuters speculation, it is possible that Apple is proposing a completely new type of battery for its electric car, thanks to which the Apple Car could be as revolutionary as the Apple iPhone once was. Negotiating the supply of batteries from third parties can thus only be a temporary solution before Apple starts producing batteries according to its own design.
Regardless of all the negotiations and technological possibilities, however, the question arises as to whether production has not been a very optimistic vision from 2024. The current lack of chips is causing great problems for established carmakers, let alone newcomers. According to some, the chip crisis could last until later in next year.
