Apple is once again testing rapid security update for iOS – Computer – News

Apple has tested again for a rapid security update. With the minor updates, Apple wants to quickly patch vulnerabilities it has found in its operating system. The updates seem to be getting much smaller than regular updates.

Monday’s second test called “iOS Security Response 16.4(b)” has a size of 2MB. Last week’s first test involved a 20MB file, writes 9to5Mac. The Dutch translation seems to be Security measure. The function has not yet been translated, but that word is already visible several times during installation.

The update installation takes a few minutes and, like other iOS updates and upgrades, requires a reboot to complete. Apple wants to use the feature to quickly release patches separately from regular updates. The feature appears to be primarily intended for vulnerabilities that criminals are actively exploiting. Apple usually says nothing about upcoming features, so it’s unknown if it will be in the stable version of iOS 16.4.
