Apple has announced it will launch a two-day promotion to celebrate the Japanese New Year, offering shoppers free Apple Store gift cards with purchases of select products and Special limited edition AirTags engraved to honor the Year of the Rabbit.
On January 2 and 3, the Japanese New Year promotion offers gift cards worth between ¥4,000 and ¥32,000 for the purchase of the second generation AirPods, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac models, with the first 30,000 customers in Japan who buy a new iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 or iPhone SE during the promotion receiving a limited edition AirTag with an angry emoji to celebrate the new year.
Last year, Apple ran a similar promotion, offering up to ¥24,000 in Apple Store gift cards to customers make eligible purchases during the event, as well as donate Custom AirTags engraved with a special emoji to celebrate the holiday.
The limited edition AirTags work exactly like the regular models, although the custom engraving is unique and entirely exclusive to the Japanese New Year promotion, available only to customers in the country who purchase an iPhone during the New Year period.
