Apple is developing new screen technology for iPhone and Mac to provide greater privacy.
Bright screens with high resolution and a wide field of view make it easier for others to monitor what the user is doing, and this is where this development comes from, as Apple is looking for ways to preserve the advantages of its screens while providing privacy for users.
One solution called “Privacy Layers for Curved Screens” suggests placing a polarizing coating over the screen, meaning light can only exit in one direction.

The company also has another idea that seems to be specific only for regular flat screens instead of curved screens, as the idea lies in a newly granted patent called “Displays with Adjustable Viewing Angles,” which takes a precise approach compared to placing a layer on the screen.
Instead of placing a layer on the screen, the company suggests changing the viewing angle of the screen, as desired, as the screens may contain what is described as an electrically controllable filter, which would allow the user to control the extent of the screen’s polarization or non-polarization.
