Because of the pandemic and the wearing of the mandatory mask in many situations, Apple may be bringing Touch ID back to its future iPhone!
Apple’s under-screen fingerprint sensor was retired in 2017 with the iPhone X, in favor of Face ID to unlock their iPhone with their face. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and the wearing of a mask which is compulsory in many places, this technique is becoming a little more complicated to use. This largely explains, and it is legitimate, why Apple is asking questions. So much so that Apple plans to put the TouchID back on its next iPhone, the iPhone 13. This would allow you to unlock your iPhone using your fingerprint.
The sensor chosen by Apple would be a optical sensor, and not ultrasound, as can be found at Samsung and which is for many considered more secure.
At the moment, there is nothing official. That may still change by the time the iPhone 13 presentation is slated to take place in September if Apple stays on its schedule. Regarding the future of Face ID, let fans be reassured, I don’t think Apple is withdrawing it. It will be paired with Touch ID so you can choose what works best for you! See even use both.
If it becomes official, we will come back to this news feature added to iPhone! Do you like it? Are you struggling with Face ID?
