Apple continues to be the top smartphone brand by unit sales and revenue in China for six consecutive weeks.
According to the latest China Smartphone Weekly Tracker from Counterpoint Research, Apple jumped to the top spot in China right after the release of iPhone 13 (week 39). Then, Apple was in a leading position for most of the period, rarely giving way to Chinese competitor Vivo.
“Until now, Apple’s only real competitor in China has been Huawei and now it is facing serious production issues due to US sanctions. Apple should continue its strong performance in China, until other competitors catch up in terms of brand and quality,” said Tom Kang. , director of research at Counterpoint, said in a statement.
The new iPhone 13 led the success. The relatively low starting price when it was released in China helped boost sales, along with the new camera and 5G features. In addition, Apple’s main competitor in the high-end market, Huawei, has faced a drop in sales due to ongoing US sanctions.
Among Apple’s iPhone 13 models, the base model had the highest sales proportions, followed by iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 13 Pro.
Initial sales of iPhone 13 series in China exceed sales of its predecessors. With the release of the iPhone 13, Apple took the top spot in sales in China and retained the top spot excluding the brief Singles Day period.
This success is also followed by the good performance of the iPhone 12, contributing to an increase in Apple’s overall sales.
