Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Apple has rolled out the iOS 17.3 update. One of the features offered will make it difficult for online fraudsters to carry out their actions.
The Verge noted that the Stolen Device Protection feature will ask users to scan their fingerprint or Face ID when carrying out certain activities. For example, viewing saved passwords or applying for an Apple Card, quoted Wednesday (24/1/2024).
It is hoped that this feature will prevent thieves from taking over access stored in a number of services used on the iPhone. After activating there will be a waiting period when carrying out sensitive activities such as changing the Apple ID or iPhone password.
“Security Delay requires Face ID and Touch ID, waiting one hour, and additional successful biometric authentication,” Apple wrote in the iOS 17.3 update notes.
Apple explains that additional authentication needs to be performed when the iPhone owner is away from a familiar location. For example, such as the user’s home or office.
Apart from the feature to avoid online theft, iOS 17.3 also presents a number of other features. For example, collaborative playlists, so other users can join and contribute to playlists on Apple Music. iOS 17.3 also has a feature for streaming to TVs in hotels.
The iOS 17.3 update was available starting a few days ago. You can check it directly through your cellphone settings.
