Apple Introduces Second Generation AirPods Pro with USB-C Charging Case

Apple now supplies its second generation AirPods Pro with a new charging case. This has a USB-C connection instead of Lightning, but is otherwise unchanged. Apple does the same with the wired EarPods.

The AirPods Pro will now be supplied with a USB-C charging case, Apple said during its Wonderlust event on Tuesday evening. The manufacturer does this because it is also equipping its new iPhones with USB-C for the first time this year to comply with EU legislation. This will soon allow users to charge their MacBook, iPad, iPhone and AirPods Pro with the same cable.

It will also be possible to connect AirPods to an iPhone via USB-C. The wireless earbuds can be charged in this way via the smartphone’s battery. The manufacturer also showed off new versions of its wired EarPods earbuds. These also get USB-C instead of Lightning, but are otherwise the same.
