Apple Has Started Testing iPhones with USB-C Ports

Ditch Lightning Port, Apple Starts Testing iPhone with USB-C Port

Selular.ID – New information from Apple Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that Apple will ditch the iPhone Lightning port and replace it with USB. The latest news says Apple has started testing the iPhone with a USB-C port.

Additionally, it is claimed that Apple is also working on an adapter that will allow future iPhones using USB-C to work with accessories designed for the current Lightning connector.

It’s unclear whether Apple will include it with the retail package or sell it separately.

Given Apple’s reputation, it’s likely customers will have to shell out extra money for adapters.

As mentioned earlier, the reason is, switching to USB-C is bad for Apple’s MiFi business and the port is rated as having lower water resistance specifications.

Apple itself used the Lightning port for the first time since the presence of the iPhone 5 which continued until this year’s iPhone 13.

Even though many smartphone brands have implemented a USB-C port on their cellphones. Now Apple has changed its plans. One of the strongest reasons may also be pressure from the European Union.

The European Union is currently preparing a new law forcing Apple to adopt USB-C for all iPhones, iPads and AirPods sold in Europe.

If approved, then Apple must ship its products to Europe with USB-C but keep Lightning products outside Europe, or adopt all devices with USB-C. The switch to USB-C will ease that workflow, as well as support for more USB-C accessories.

Previous information stated that Apple is still retaining the Lightning port while preparing the iPhone without a port.

Will the price of a used iPhone drop because of Apple’s new policy? Observers assess the price of used iPhones will go down because Apple will eliminate the characteristics of the iPhone.

Regardless, the USB-C port coming to the iPhone series will be a change that the public welcomes, especially for those in the Apple ecosystem. Apple has brought the Type-C port to Macbooks and even iPads.

With the iPhone series also taking up a universal port, Apple users will have one less cable to worry about. And can ditch the Lightning port for good.

Blomberg observer Mark Gurman said that making a cellphone with two different connector variants would actually confuse Apple. “The manufacturing process will also create a headache for component suppliers,” said Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

This means that Apple will re-release all products that are still running with a USB Type-C connector.

It would actually be a nightmare for iPhone users that exist today. Because the price of their favorite cell phone will fall freely.
