Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia One more character who is frightened by the presence of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Apple founder Steve Wozniak fears the technology could make it harder for fraudsters to spot and take advantage of bad actors.

“AI is very smart, so it’s open to bad players, who want to deceive you about who they are,” said Wozniak, quoted from BBC, Wednesday (10/5/2023).

The man who is familiarly called Woz does not believe in the possibility that AI will replace people. The reason is that the technology is emotionally lacking.

But he believes he can make bad people more convincing. For example, a program like ChatGPT can make text sound very smart.

Humans must also be responsible for the presence of AI, he said. He also called for rules to be put in place for tech giants, although he doubted it would be done properly.

“I think the forces pushing money are usually going to win out, kind of sadly,” he said.

Wozniak understood that humans could not stop technological progress. However, the 72-year-old man believes education is needed to avoid fraud and malicious attempts by perpetrators to extract personal information.

Meanwhile, Tim Cook, who currently serves as CEO of Apple, also voiced his opinion regarding AI. Speaking to investors last week, he said it was necessary to be “deliberate and prudent” to approach AI.

According to him, Apple will be fully considerate when applying the technology to the company’s products. “We view AI as a big thing, and we will continue to implement it in our products with due consideration,” said Wozniak.
