Apple figured out how to make money by replacing Lightning with a USB-C connector

In accordance with the law voted by the MEPs, all electronics manufacturers are required to switch to the use of a unified USB-C connector. Apple’s Cupertino Corporation is no exception in this regard. Almost all of its devices, with rare exceptions, use the proprietary Lightning connector. This week it became known that the “apple” giant figured out how to make money on it.

Details

According to industry expert Ming Chi-Kuo, the installation of the USB-C connector will be launched by a North American corporation at the end of this year or early next year. During this period, the AirPods Pro 2 headphones will go on sale and come with a Lightning connector. Kuo claims that Apple intends to bring USB-C charging cases to market that will be compatible with the second generation of Pro AirPods. They will be sold separately for 100 USD. A case for older USB-C TWS earphones will be available for $60.

Lightning connector is used not only in smartphones, tablets and headphones. It can also be found in CarPlay. Kuo believes that the Cupertino corporation will offer customers an adapter or something similar. In general, the transition to USB-C will be delayed by the “apple” giant to the last opportunity. This will allow him to sell the maximum number of accessories on the commercial market.
