Apple Expected to Ship 77 Million iPhone 15 Units, Adjusts Sales Estimates Due to Demand Issues

In a company memo sent to investors, analyst Jeff Pu mentions that Apple is expected to ship 77 million iPhone 15 units before the end of the year. Previously, the company was expected to ship about 83 million iPhone 15 units.

According to the analyst, this expectation is due to two main reasons.

First, parts supply issues could still affect mass production of the iPhone 15. In particular, he mentions that Sony’s camera sensors, a new titanium bezel for Pro models, and a new display with thinner bezels could delay new phones.

At the same time, Pu believes that Apple has adjusted its sales estimates due to “demand issues.”

Rumor has it that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be more expensive than their predecessors, and this could lead to a decrease in demand.

“A cut in the pre-launch build plan is not a positive signal, and a potential price increase for the iPhone 15 Pro Max could also dampen final demand,” the analyst said.

In the third quarter of fiscal year 2023, Apple reported a decline in iPhone sales from $40.67 billion to $39.67 billion.

In a phone call with investors, Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the company is selling fewer iPhones in the US, its core market, despite better results in some other regions.

Earlier it was reported that Apple is starting production of the iPhone 15 in India.
