Apple could combine two iPads to form a laptop

A new patent, discovered by the AppleInsider site, reveals the plans of the brand at the apple for a rather amazing laptop, consisting of two iPads.

Baptized “Modular electronic devices with multiple display”, The patent clearly illustrates the idea. Namely the connection between two iPads, via an accessory that would serve as both a link and a hinge. An iPad would then be used as a screen, and the second as a virtual keyboard.

On the accessory / hinge side, there are two connectors to attach iPads and facilitate data sharing between the two tablets so that they become one. The screens could be positioned vertically, or horizontally, to form a sort of book, like Microsoft’s Surface Duo.

This hybrid product is not Apple’s first attempt in the field. The Cupertino company has been looking for several years how to combine two devices, either by physically connecting them as is the case here, either by activating proximity sensors which would virtually merge the two screens.

Anyway, this idea currently only remains at the patent stage. Which means, as often, that the product might never see the light of day. Which, in this case, would be good news for the consumer wallet. A combination of two 12.9-inch iPad Pro could bring the bill to at least 2238 euros, not counting the price of the hinge.
