I’m 2019, a Apple officially canceled AirPower project, a wireless device announced in 2017 that would allow you to charge an iPhone, an Apple Watch and a pair of AirPods simultaneously. Companies like Belkin Where a Logitech took advantage of the “void” left to launch their own wireless chargers, but now new rumors point to the possibility that the apple company is developing a new version of AirPower.
In his newsletter, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman advances that the charger in question may include wireless charging support for short distances as well as longer distances, also allowing the brand’s equipment to be able to give each other more energy.
Still in June of this year, a Bloomberg had already advanced that Apple could be developing an equipment similar to AirPower. According to knowledgeable sources, the company was investigating alternatives to wireless charging methods that could work over longer distances.
It is recalled that, at the time of the official presentation of AirPower, Tim Cook had indicated that the launch of the product would take place during 2018. However, in the eighteen months that followed, there was no further information from Apple about the device.
Later, when the cancellation was announced, Dan Riccio, Apple’s senior vice president of hardware engineering, explained that “despite all the effort put in, it was not possible to meet the high standards demanded by the company.” The official noted, however, that Apple continued to believe that the future would be wireless and that he maintained his commitment to boosting wireless experiences.
