Selular.ID – Apple says its security efforts in 2021 are quite aggressive. The App Store managed to block 1.6 million malicious apps that risked deceiving users.
Apple said that the App Store stopped nearly 1.5 billion fraudulent transactions throughout 2021. Apple rejected more than 34,000 apps that registered on the App Store because of the hidden feature.
In 2021, Apple went on to explain, its App review process helped more than 107,000 new developers get their apps into the App Store. Although the process is not as simple as it sounds.
Sometimes, pending applications may be slightly unfinished, or contain bugs that hindered their functionality when the application was first submitted for approval.

Apple may also need stronger content moderation mechanisms for any user-generated content.
“In 2021, more than 835,000 new problematic apps, and 805,000 additional app updates, were rejected or removed for various reasons like that,” Apple said.
As part of the App Review process, Apple also stressed that the decision is not necessarily final. Any developer “who feels they have been wrongly flagged” for fraud can appeal to Apple’s App Review Board.
Apple also noted that it rejected some apps from the App Store for “flagrant violations” of Apple’s guidelines. The iPhone maker said the breach was of the sort that could hurt or degrade the overall user experience.
In addition, more than 157,000 applications were rejected from the App Store for other reasons. As, for example, Apple has determined that the app is “spam, impersonator, or misleading users, such as manipulating them into making a purchase.”
More than 157,000 spam and copycat apps were also removed from the App Store.
In this App Store “purge” act, Apple has removed 155,000 malicious apps that tried to bypass the App review process by changing functionality or approval concepts in the App Store.
A total of 63,500 unauthorized and pirated apps have also been blocked by Apple throughout 2021.
Apple also managed to stop the distribution of 3.3 million illegal applications in the Enterprise Developer Program.
