Apple plans to appeal the ruling in the high-profile competition case against Epic Games. The tech giant reported this to federal court in California on Friday.
Early September the judge ruled that Apple should lift some restrictions it places on providers of apps in its App Store such as Epic Games. The developers must be able to offer their own payment systems in the apps, according to the court.
Apple is now asking the judge to suspend that order to lift the payment restrictions while it works on a solution.
Epic Games, the maker of the popular Fortnite game, had previously appealed the September 10 verdict. An Epic spokeswoman declined to comment on The Wall Street Journal about the news that Apple is also appealing.
Earlier this week, Reuters news agency reported on the basis of insiders that the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets has ordered Apple to change its policy on payment systems. The ACM, which started an investigation in 2019, would not have imposed a fine on Apple, according to Reuters.
