Apple apologizes for blocking WordPress updates in the App Store

On August 21, WordPress developer Matt Mullenweg complained that Apple has blocked the App Store from updating the WordPress mobile site management app:

Mullenweg assured that the Cupertinians demanded to implement the possibility of purchasing paid tariffs in the application, despite the fact that the WordPress mobile application had never had such functionality before.

The update in the App Store was not moderated due to the lack of in-app purchases, but on August 23, the Cupertinos officially apologized for this situation. Apple found out that the company shouldn’t add payment features to the free app, so now “the problem with WordPress has been resolved”:

Since the developer has removed the display of their payment options from the app, it is now a free standalone app that should not offer in-service purchases. We have informed the developer and we apologize for any inconvenience.

WordPress has several paid plans that range from $ 4 to $ 45. As the developer himself comments, users have the opportunity to find out about this in the application by going to the service website.

Originally to solve the problem with Apple Mullenweg offered to block access to such pages, but this did not suit the Cupertinos. As a result, the developer was forced to agree to the introduction of in-app purchases, which allowed him to update the WordPress app for iOS in the App Store.
