Apple Announces New Versions for Android and PC – Marketeer

One of the big news announced by Apple during its event yesterday, the WWDC, involves the release of versions of the FaceTime application for Android devices and for computers running the Windows operating system. This means that Apple’s video calling platform is no longer limited to iPhone or iPad users and can now be used by a wider range of people.

Could FaceTime be the next Zoom? In addition to increasing the radius of action of FaceTime, Apple also revealed that it will make some changes, including the introduction of sharing links to scheduled meetings. In this way, the host of the video call can share its link with the other participants in advance.

According to The Verge, there is still no closed date for the release of new versions, although it is possible that they will arrive next autumn, in line with the new iOS 15. By that time, FaceTime will also have a feature that allows to isolate the voice to improve the sound quality or even the possibility of blurring the background through the “portrait mode”.

A tool for group conversations, called SharePlay, is also planned: the idea is that the participants in a video call can see or listen to the same content, simultaneously. For this news, Apple has partnered with entertainment giants such as Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu or Twitch.
