Take your agenda, as the unveiling of the next iPhone is approaching.
Now that we’ve finished all of Samsung’s announcements, it’s time for competitor Apple to announce the next generation of smartphones. At least, it is still a bit of a mystery what Apple will announce precisely, because several lines would be introduced. In all likelihood, the billion-dollar company will release the iPhone SE 2 next month, probably called the iPhone 9.
According to the Apple iPhoneTicker fansite, the announcement of the cheaper iPhone 9 will take place on Tuesday March 31. Then, the announced device would be published on Friday, April 3. Apple fanatics who do not want to spend € 1,200 on a smartphone objectively more distant than the equivalent of Samsung can write this date on their agenda.
The iPhone 9 would be an “update” of the iPhone 8, with the design philosophy of the iPhone SE. That is to say an entry-level iPhone with a – by today’s standards – a very small screen and mid-range hardware. Perfect for people who want an iPhone but smartphones in the upper segment are too expensive.
Meanwhile, Apple is undoubtedly preparing for the unveiling of the next series of “ordinary” iPhones. The iPhone 12, which would look like the iPhone 11, should also be announced this year. I expect an announcement in the summer, with a release in September. But with Apple’s updated strategy, it’s mainly about waiting to see what the timing will be.
