The American computer giant Apple began on Monday to add new notifications that specify what personal data the applications offered in its online stores collect and how it is used.
This initiative will likely evolve as Apple receives feedback from Internet users and developers, the group said Monday in a note.
Apple has established three categories.
In the first case, it identifies the “data used to track you”, that is, collected when the user browses applications and sites belonging to other companies in order to better target the ads or measure them or share them with specialized companies.
The second includes the “data linked” to the user and obtained through their account or their device.
The third category applies to data not associated with the Internet user.
Apple had promised in June to provide Internet users who want to download applications on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, watches or its television platform, a clear and understandable summary of how they plan to exploit their data.
The idea is to allow users to better understand what information is collected and what it can be used for so that they can make informed decisions.
The group started on December 8 by asking developers who want to update their app to submit the relevant information.
