Apple and Samsung earn 90% of all profits in the smartphone market

Research agency Strategy Analytics has summed up the results of the third quarter and found outthat Samsung and Apple earned almost all the profits in the smartphone market for two.

According to the report, Samsung has set a new record in the past 6 years, collecting 32.6% of profit from the smartphone market in the third quarter.

Apple’s situation is even better – Cupertinians earned 60.5% of the profits in this market. However, this figure is worse than the one that Apple showed a year earlier – then the company earned 66.9% of all profits.

According to analysts, the launch of the iPhone 12 line, displaced by the pandemic, affected Apple’s operating margin. This year it was 21%, which is 2% lower than a year earlier. At Samsung, on the contrary, this indicator increased – from 11% to 14%.

If we talk about revenue, then Apple’s share is 33.8%, while Samsung’s is 20.2%. In terms of sales of smartphones in units, Samsung leads with an indicator of 21.9%, followed by Huawei (14.1%) and Xiaomi (12.7%), and Apple occupies only the 4th place with a share of 11.9%.
