Apple’s AirPods wireless earbuds are very popular among avid apple users. At the moment, there are two in-ear models, and although they look similar in shape, their characteristics are quite different.
If you’re anything like me, you might have bought a pair of classic AirPods first and were a bit disappointed. Considering that over $ 100 separates them from the Pro version, many have not dared to spend so much money for fear of being left hungry.
Too curious, I said to myself that I would take the plunge, even if I was to return them to Apple if I was dissatisfied, but it turns out that in fact, I was pleasantly surprised at their quality.
The high price of AirPods Pro has made many people chill out trying them out of fear of being disappointed with the quality.
Active noise cancellation that really makes a difference
The main thing I lamented about the classic AirPods model was the quality of the mic. Good news, while the Pro version really does the job better since it is now more interior oriented and that really makes the difference.
The big change is that these now offer the active noise cancellation typically found in headphones.
Each earpiece has two sensors, one external and one internal, which are used to measure the amount of unwanted external sound that has reached the ear to find the ideal noise canceling device to apply.
It is activated or deactivated simply by long pressing on the side of the earpiece, a mode called by Apple as “Transparency Mode”. You immediately notice the difference when you find yourself in a noisy public place or office.
Unlike regular AirPods, the Pro version comes with three tips of different sizes.
Same clear sound, but more comfort
In terms of the sound quality of its AirPods Pro, Apple once again takes up the challenge hands down. The dynamic equalization of the headphones makes it possible, among other things, to calibrate the music according to the particular shape of our ears.
In other words: it sounds really good, as much in terms of voice when listening to podcasts or movies as when playing our favorite music.
Unlike classic AirPods, the Pro version includes adaptable tips in three different sizes like many other headphones on the market have been offering for a long time.
If you’re one of those people who has always found the universal tips of Apple earbuds uncomfortable, this is a thing of the past with Airpods Pro.
If the AirPods Pro battery isn’t revolutionary, its charging case serves a bit of saving the day.
Another disappointment on the side of autonomy
Unfortunately, if we were hoping that the battery life issue would be fixed with the Pro version of AirPods, we missed it.
The battery lasts about 4:30 hours, which doesn’t even amount to a full day’s work. Considering that we use our headphones for just about everything, having fun AND working, that goes pretty quickly.
Fortunately, there is the charging case which alone gives 24 hours of listening time. Moreover, in just 5 minutes of recharging, the time to make a coffee, we regain a full hour of listening or conversation.
The other snag is the price, while the AirPods Pro are listed at $ 329, which I grant, is not cheap for a pair of in-ear headphones.
It’s not for everyone, but if you’ve got an iPhone and want to spoil yourself, I actually think they’re worth it.
