Supply shortages currently affect many industries and Apple is not immune. In addition to the shortages affecting the Mac and iPad, the Apple Watch is also indirectly affected, with third-party accessory makers struggling to source Apple Watch chargers.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that supply shortages have hit some manufacturers of Apple Watch accessories. Small accessory companies would face issues sourcing Apple’s proprietary charge washers for integration into their own accessories.
Some small accessory companies have told me that Apple’s proprietary watch charging washers, which are available for third-party integration, are in short supply, delaying some shipments. It is not known what led to the shortages, but it could be another ripple effect of the pandemic-affected supply chain issues that have occurred over the past year.
Apple’s proprietary Apple Watch chargers don’t appear to be affected by supply shortages, with various lengths and styles of chargers readily available at the online Apple Store. An Apple Watch charger from Native Union, on the other hand, is currently out of stock through August via the Apple Online Store.
Apple will release its third quarter 2021 results on July 27. The company has warned that constraints on the iPad and Mac could cost it between $ 3 billion and $ 4 billion in revenue for the fiscal third quarter.
