With a score of 7480 under the Geekbench 5 benchmark, the A14X Bionic is emerging as a strong competitor to Intel’s Core i9-9880H.
Launched in the second quarter of 2019, the Core i9-9880H, a mobile processor with a thermal envelope of 45 W. Resulting from an engraving at 14 nm, it has 8 computing cores and Hyper-Threading technology, i.e. 16 logical cores . The whole is powered at 2.3 GHz against 4.8 GHz, Turbo mode max. It powers Apple’s high-end laptops like the 16-inch MacBook Pro of 2019.
If these performance estimates are correct, Apple has a solid solution in its hands to abandon Intel processors for good. It is not impossible that variations of the A14X land to equip the next ARM Macbooks.
