The Office of the Pro-Rector for Culture and Social Policy of the Pablo de Olavide University (UPO), through the Volunteering and Social Engagement Office, will launch a new campus blood donation campaign targeting students next Monday , teachers and researchers (PDI) and Administration and Services Personnel (PAS). With the collaboration of the Regional Transfusion Center, the campaign will be active on 28, 29 and 30 November and on 1 December.
In a statement, the UPO explained that this initiative “intends to raise awareness among the university community of the importance of blood donations, since blood is a vital medicine that cannot be produced or purchased, while at the same time the solidarity of the university community is promoted through donations”.
People interested in donating blood these days can do so from 9:30 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 20:30 UPO Rectorate. These people must take into account the basic requirements to be a donor: weigh more than 50 kilograms, be of legal age, be in good health and not fasting.
In addition, donors must respect a minimum period of two months between donations, and before donating a doctor will test them to determine if they are fit to do so. Blood donation takes fifteen minutes and all the material of the donation process is sterile and disposable, which poses no risk to the donor.
