National Musical Theater “Stefan Makedonski” kicked off this year’s edition of the “Apolonia” arts festivals.
The festival opened with a spectacular performance with the music of Lehar, Kalmann and Strauss. On the stage in Sozopol, the beloved masterpieces of the world operetta classics delighted the audience.
In the following days until September 5, you can enjoy the rich cultural program filled with music, art, literature, cinema and theater. Tickets for all events of “Apollonia 202″3 can be purchased from Eventim.
“This year’s edition of “Apolonia” is proof that for the 39th year in a row we have managed to preserve cultural traditions and support young talents. And this year we gathered the most talented Bulgarian artists in one place to meet them with a wonderful audience, here in sunny Sozopol. We thank everyone who is part of “Apolonia” and we hope that the upcoming events will fill you with mood and positive emotions”said Margarita Dimitrova, executive director of the Apollonia Foundation, at the opening of the Arts Festival.
The program includes over 50 events, including concerts, art exhibitions, cinema screenings, theater productions and others.
The exhibitions “Women and the International Triennial of the Stage Poster”, “The Return of Lotte Mihailova. Shy Intimacy” and “Graduate Exhibitions” from the National Academy of Arts have already been opened. They can be viewed at the Art Gallery in Sozopol until September 5.
Among the musical performers who will appear on the stage of the amphitheater are Michaela Marinova, Maria Ilieva, BTR, the groups “Signal” and “Foundation”.
On the screen in the summer cinema of Sozopol, you can see a number of famous Bulgarian films, among them “Chalga”, “Shakespeare as a street dog”, the documentary “Morality is good” – dedicated to the lawyer and defender of law and freedom Kristian Takov, who left us without time.

Apollonia Arts Festival is the largest, long-standing and large-scale art festival in Bulgaria. Its organizer is the Apollonia Foundation, established in 1991. The first edition of the festival was held in 1984.
Every year, the stages of “Apolonia” in Sozopol attract hundreds of artists and thousands of art lovers from Bulgaria and the world. The festival aims to preserve cultural traditions as well as support new talents in the field of all kinds of arts.
