Apipe Grande Island honored its patron San Antonio

On a day in which the weather accompanied, the traditional patronal festival was held in homage to San Antonio de Padua, on the Apipe Grande island in the municipality of San Antonio.

According to the information from the Municipality, at 9:30 a.m., and with the presence of Mayor Candelaria Vargas and other local authorities of the Prefecture and the Corrientes Police, the Holy Mass was carried out before a large crowd of faithful of the community of San Antonio and neighboring places who attended with the images of their Patron Saints in procession from Vizcaíno and Monte Grande.

At the end of the Holy Mass, the traditional procession of the main image of San Antonio was carried out through the main streets of the town, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary.

At noon, a community lunch was offered in the Chapel and traditional games and raffles were held among those present.

For its part, the Department of Culture of the Municipality of San Antonio organized a historical journey on the devotion to the Patron Saint through a series of photographs. The show includes photographs of religious images and works by local artists.

San Antonio is a town located on the northeast coast of Apipe Grande Island in the department of Ituzaingó at kilometer 1,460 of the Paraná River. The island is a Provincial Reserve, and San Antonio is the most populated center of the island.
