TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Jokowi openly supports Crescent Star Party (PBB) politicians, Yusril Ihza Mahendraif running as a presidential candidate or vice presidential candidate in 2024 presidential election future. According to Jokowi, Yusril is a politician who is full of experience.
“If you listen to what was said by Prof. Yusril with very long experience, I support it, you know, if Prof. Yusril is nominated as presidential candidate and vice president. This is serious,” Jokowi said in his speech at the UN National Working Meeting in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Wednesday, January 11, 2023.
Yusril is not the only figure who openly gains Jokowi’s support to run for the 2024 presidential election. Apart from Yusril, there are two other figures who openly receive Jokowi’s support, namely Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo.
Prabowo Subianto
While attending the Perindo Party’s 8th anniversary on Monday, November 7 2022, Jokowi said Prabowo Subianto had a chance in the 2024 presidential election. He said this when he brought up his victory in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections.
“Twice in the presidential election, he also won. I’m sorry, Pak Prabowo,” said Jokowi, smiling. “It seems that this is Pak Prabowo’s share after this,” Jokowi said, followed by applause.
Similar remarks were made by Jokowi while attending the opening of the Indo Defense 2022 exhibition at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Jokowi stated that he gave his blessing for his former rival to take part in the 2024 presidential election.
“It’s been from the start. How come the blessings? From the start I said I support him,” Jokowi said after attending the Indo Defense 2022 exhibition, Wednesday, November 2, 2022.
Ganjar Pranowo
Apart from that, PDIP politician Ganjar Pranowo has also implicitly won Jokowi’s support. This happened when Jokowi delivered his remarks at a meeting of his volunteers entitled the United Archipelago Movement at the GBK Stadium, Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Jokowi conveyed a message to thousands of volunteers to elect leaders who truly work for the Indonesian people. He assessed that the leader’s sincerity could be seen from his physical appearance, such as hair and facial treatment.
“I need to say. I need to say, leaders, leaders who think about the people can be seen from their faces,” Jokowi said at GBK, Jakarta, Saturday, November 26, 2022.
According to him, a leader who thinks about the people will be seen from his hair. He alluded to the figure of ‘white hair’ which he called a leader who thinks about the people. “There are also those who think about the people until their hair is all white, there is that,” he said.
Even so, Jokowi rejected the statement as support for one person in particular. According to him, any leader who really works will definitely affect his physique.
“Yes, you can interpret it in any way; but indeed when people work, if they are serious and work hard, it will definitely affect their physique,” Jokowi said after attending the event in Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, November 29, 2022.
“Including hair, because they think very hard for the people, then their hair might turn white; and many have white hair, like Hatta Rajasa, Ganjar Pranowoincluding Pak Prabowo Subianto, his hair is also rather white, and others,” Jokowi added.
