Apart from Covid-19, this is a terrible threat to make the earth dim

JAKARTA, FakatualNews.co – Climate change is said to be a major threat besides Covid-19. This problem has also made the Earth continue to dim.

Research published in Geophysical Research Letters shows the planet is getting darker due to climate change and natural climate change.

The research team used two decades of earthshine data collected by the Big Bear Solar Observatory with a special type of telescope to view the Moon. Earthshine itself is light that is reflected by the planet and emits a faint light on the surface of the Earth’s satellite.

The observatory is able to accurately calculate the earthshine covering 40% of the Earth, it consists of the Pacific and North America.

Earthshine events can be seen best during the Crescent and Late Crescent. For information, earthone is reflected through several things on Earth, namely land, ice, clouds and the open sea.

Launching Gizmodo, the research team analyzed data on 800 nights from 1998 to 2017. They found that there was indeed a small but significant decrease in light, quoted Thursday (7/10/2021).

There was a change from year to year, but the research team found the event to be ‘quite dampening with long-term declines dominating the time series’.

For this study, they used satellite data to look at the reasons why Earth is getting darker. The research team found the disappearing clouds in the Pacific to be the cause of the Earth’s loss of light.

“The decrease in albedo (the proportion of incident light or surface-reflected radiation) was surprising when we analyzed data for the last three years of 17 years of near-flat albedo,” said researcher Philip Goode at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and lead author of the study.

In the 20-year-old data there is also a cycle of two eclipses. The sun has gone through an 11-year period of decreasing and increasing activity. Researchers also deny climate explanations for climate change.

The results also show that the dimming is not the Sun but the Earth. “Our data do not support the argument for a detectable trace of the Earth’s reflecting activity mechanism over the last two decades,” he explained.
