Apart from Bullying Mosquitoes, Kediri City Government Still Relies on 3M to Prevent Dengue – Lentera Today

KEDIRI (Lenteratoday) – Through the Kediri Mayor’s Circular No: 443/6586/419.108/2021, the Kediri City Government launched the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (Gertak Mosquitoes) through 3M. The movement is a form of vigilance against Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

For a long time, 3M Plus has been predicted as a powerful way to suppress the spread of dengue fever. Almost every year the incidence of dengue tends to increase in the middle of the rainy season, usually around January.

3M consists of; draining or cleaning water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs tightly, and eliminating or recycling used goods that can hold water.

Meanwhile, the pluses consist of sowing larvicide powder or abate, using mosquito repellent, using mosquito nets while sleeping, keeping fish that prey on mosquito larvae, regulating light and ventilation in the house, and avoiding the habit of hanging clothes in the house which can become a nest of mosquitoes.

For this reason, the Mayor of Kediri, Abdullah Abu Bakar, asked the community to be diligent in doing 3M plus. Community participation in suppressing dengue cases with 3M plus is very decisive. Efforts to get rid of mosquitoes through 3M plus automatically break the mosquito breeding cycle. “We must continue to do this 3M plus as a prevention effort. All elements must move together to suppress the spread of dengue fever,” he said, Sunday (9/1/2022).

Separately, the Head of the Kediri City Health Office (Dinkes) dr. Fauzan Adima added that the Health Office continues to educate and outreach to the public to do this 3M plus. Through Jumantik cadres, his party has also intensively carried out socialization on dengue alertness and clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS).

“Since December 2021, we have carried out socializations so that people are aware of DHF. Nah In January 2021, we will be more aggressive in outreach to the public, especially for eradicating mosquito nests. Because usually in this month the peak of the occurrence of dengue fever, “he explained.
