MIRROR released their first English-language single, Rumours, today, as an important step towards the international market. Earlier, MIRROR accepted an interview with the Associated Press to introduce the single, and the report was released today with the title Revives Cantopop (Reviving the Cantonese Music World).
During the interview, MIRROR members mentioned that Rumours has “sexy” and “sensual” (“sexy” and “sensual”), and Ian (Chen Zhuoxian) even pointed out that his singles in the past gave people the impression of “a group of small roads” , the new song shows the mature side of Qudi, and hopes to bring Cantonese songs to more places.
The article mentioned that Cantonese songs used to dominate Asia, but they were surpassed by Mandarin and Korean K-Pop for many years, and finally returned to their glory in recent years. The report also mentioned last year’s MIRROR concert accident, Edan (Lu Juan) responded that “the conversation has come out”, and admitted that the accident was “a big lesson”. (“We will never say that we already got through it,” said Lui, adding it was a “huge lesson.”). The article also pointed out that MIRROR has been criticized for “the performance is lackluster” and “members focus on commercials rather than performances”. Anson Lo (Lu Hanting) said that the current work arrangement of the team has slowed down and has a better balance, while MIRROR Now there are opportunities for the whole group to have meetings and line dances in one to two months, which is very different from before.
The Associated Press also uploaded a small amount of interview videos, excerpted by Ian answering questions in English, speaking quite fluently, I believe it will be very helpful for MIRROR to go international. (access link)
