The “TOHO CINEMAS BOAT” project is a “thought formation” program for children through movie experiences. The first installment is a collaboration with “THE TOKYO TOILET” in Shibuya Ward, which was the inspiration for the production of “PERFECT DAYS” in which Koji Yakusho played a public toilet cleaner in Shibuya. Targeting elementary and junior high school students in Shibuya Ward, the program aims to make young people aware of how to use public restrooms cleanly, including a “cleaning experience” of a restroom, a “movie experience” on a screen, and a hands-on experience of using a restroom. Active learning activities included original dances and drawing pictures of their favorite toilets to help the children become attached to them.

Aoiyamada, who had been cleaning children’s toilets since the morning, took to the stage wearing a custom-made dress that resembled a toilet, and performed the song “Feeling”, which was used in a memorable scene in “PERFECT DAYS”, in which she also appeared. They performed an original dance to “Good”. After that, she continued to teach children how to move their bodies, such as dancing a dance with a toilet motif called “Toilet Tonton Ondo” with children.

The movie “PERFECT DAYS” is a human drama directed by Wim Wenders, who brought us “Buena Vista Social Club” and other films, starring Koji Yakusho. This film depicts small daily changes through the perspective of Hirayama (a government official) who works as a public toilet cleaner in Shibuya, Tokyo.
