General Manager of Lombok Astoria Hotel, Saeno Kunto said the hotel he manages is full for guests who will watch the Mandalika MotoGP in March 2022. “Of the 164 available rooms, 120 rooms have been booked,” said Saeno on Friday, December 17, 2021. .
The person who booked the hotel room, according to Saeno, was a guest or customer who stayed when the World Superbike took place at the Mandalika Circuit in November 2021. The World Superbike spectators, he continued, immediately booked in November for the Mandalika MotoGP for fear of not getting a room. “Indeed, during the World Superbike yesterday, it was difficult to find a hotel room,” he said.
Price hotel rooms offered from Rp. 2 to Rp. 2.899 million. “Our hotel rooms have also been booked by loyal customers or who are already members,” he said. The high demand for rooms resulted in hotel rates soaring drastically. However, according to him, the increase is still within reasonable limits.
Saeno Kunto explained that the increase in hotel room prices was not due to aji while or profiting during MotoGP. “We think from a business point of view, when demand is high, we have to play a fair price,” he said. And what is no less important is to maintain product quality, service, and health protocols, so that customers or guests do not feel lost even though they have paid a lot.
The chairman of the Mataram Hotel Association, Yono Sulistyo, explained that hotel room reservations for the Mandalika MotoGP had spread from Central Lombok Regency to Mataram City to West Lombok Regency. “Room reservations in Mataram City are 90 percent full. This condition has also occurred to a number of people hotel in Mandalika and Senggigi,” he said.
Yono, who is also the General Manager of Fave Hotel Mataram, said that many room reservations came from travel agents, companies, motorcycle clubs, and loyal members or customers of the hotel. Regarding the price, Yono explained, the price range for each room is still below Rp. 1 million. Even so, he did not deny that hotel room rates would increase along with high demand. “As long as the increase is still reasonable.”
