Anxious due to PMK, Cattle Breeders in Probolinggo Ask for Vaccines Immediately

PROBOLINGGOKOMPAS.com – Cattle breeders in the District Probolinggo, East Javarestless with the epidemic Diseases of the Mouth and Nails (PMK) which attacks livestock. They hope to get a vaccine soon.

Siama, a cattle farmer in Tamansari Village, Dringu District, Probolinggo Regency, directly felt the impact of this virus.

He has four cows and all of them have FMD. Siama also admitted that he had injected his cows with the hope that the cows could avoid FMD.

“But it turned out to be still infected. One of my cows died from the disease. While the rest lay limp in the cage,” said Siama with a sad face while attending a meeting with the Probolinggo District Government and Police at the Dringu District Office, Wednesday (22/6/ 2022).

Siama said the cow had no appetite at first. Finally, he tried to heal by giving treatment with herbs from turmeric and coconut water.

“After that it healed. After a few days, even his leg was affected by the disease and now he can’t stand. If he eats, I will help because if he doesn’t, the cow won’t eat,” said Siama.

This middle-aged woman hopes that there is a drug or vaccine that can help cure her cow. So far, the cows have only been given herbs and vitamin injections.

“I hope there will be immediate treatment from the related parties. So far, I have treated my cows and brought in an orderly mantri to be handled,” he hoped.

Siama admitted that he suffered a loss of around Rp. 20 million from one of his dead cows.

The Head of Dringu Sub-district, Ulfiningtyas said, the number of threatened cattle population FMD outbreak in Dringu District there are 6,166 cows.

“Three days ago, there were 599 sick cows. From that number, 135 recovered and seven died,” he said.
