The declaration was announced Monday Washington time after Biden’s Ukraine crisis talks with European leaders.

On that occasion, Biden also confirmed that 8,500 US troops were on standby for possible deployments in Eastern Europe to support NATO.
“I had a very, very, very good meeting—total unanimity with all European leaders,” Biden told reporters shortly after wrapping up a one-hour and 20-minute videoconference with allied leaders from Europe and NATO. AFP, Tuesday (25/1/2022).
In London, Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office also said; “The leaders agreed on the importance of international unity in the face of increasing Russian hostility.”
Meanwhile, the European Union said it strongly supports the government in Kiev against the alleged imminent Russian invasion.
However, the bloc insists there is no reason to believe it will happen any time soon.
“No new element should raise fears of an imminent attack by Russia,” said the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
He spoke to reporters after a meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers, where they were briefed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
