Anwar Abbas talks about the criteria for presidential candidates according to Muhammadiyah

Jakarta

Central Leadership Member (PP) Muhammadiyah, Anwar Abbas, conveyed the criteria of a presidential candidate (Capres) according to Muhammadiyah. Muhammadiyah said that the presidential candidate must understand Pancasila and the constitution.

“Those who are responsible for the nomination (presidential candidates) are political parties. Only if Muhammadiyah is asked what are the criteria? Yes, you understand and understand Pancasila and the constitution. So let’s hope they are pancasilaist people,” Anwar Abbas said when was met at 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah at UMS, Solo, reported by detikJateng on Sunday (20/11/2022).

For Anwar Abbas, if the presidential candidate is a Pan-Casilaist, it means that he respects all religions. Hence, for those who declare themselves pancasilaists, they must submit to religious teachings.

“And every religion teaches us to respect each other,” he explained.

Then there are the criteria for being physically and mentally healthy, having insight, and prioritizing unity and oneness.

“Then the references are Pancasila and the Constitution of 45. Making policies is oriented towards protecting people, improving people’s well-being, educating people and participating in maintaining world order. These are the broad lines”, he explained.

It is known that Solo’s 48th Muktamar Muhammadiyah managed to elect a general president and general secretary to lead the next five years. Ahead of the 2024 elections, Muhammadiyah is asked to maintain close ties with all political parties (political parties).

“Keep closeness with all political parties. In the past you kept your distance, but not now. In my opinion yes, in my personal opinion, keep closeness with all existing political parties. This means that we must be able to build friendship between us,” said Anwar Abbas.
