Deputy MUI Anwar Abbas said he was reminded by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) not to speak out loud. The Special Staff of the Minister of State Secretariat, Faldo Maldini, asked that this should not be interpreted to silence critics.
“Don’t take it literally to silence critics. There are various kinds of conspiracies. Moreover, the President and Buya Anwar know the context of the conversation,” Faldo said to reporters, Saturday (11/12/2021).
Faldo said Jokowi was never worried about criticism. According to him, Jokowi has indeed become the target of criticism.
“President Jokowi is never worried, wherever he is, he will be the target of criticism, just buy one truck of oranges from farmers who say it’s gratification, tell the KPK to report it. So, it’s normal,” he said.
Anwar Abbas said he was reminded by Jokowi at the Second Islamic Economic Congress held by the MUI. Anwar Abbas at that time represented the Chairman of the MUI who could not attend to give a speech.
Anwar Abbas in his speech also conveyed criticism and input to the government regarding economic conditions. Faldo said Jokowi appreciated the host who made the event.
“That means President Jokowi respects. Really appreciates the host who has made the event. The matter of how the host treats his guests, that is entirely the right of the host,” said Faldo.
“You often joke like that every day, ‘don’t bother preparing food, sir’ Yes, there’s still a lot of food served by the host. It’s also like going to the doctor if we’re sick, ‘don’t have too many taboos, Doctor’, still you can’t eat everything. So, it’s a small joke with the host, “he continued.
