For a moment a tunnel was on the table, but eventually it will become a lift bridge for pedestrians and cyclists that will connect the right and left banks of the Scheldt. The City of Antwerp and Flanders reached a decision on this on Monday. The bridge should be completed in 2024 at the earliest. The estimated cost is slightly less than 200 million euros.
