On Sunday evening Antwerp and KV Mechelen compete for the Belgian Supercup. For Antwerp it may be the first time that they win the prize. With their previous national title, in 1957, the Supercup did not yet exist. In 2020, Antwerp won the Croky Cup against Club Brugge, but due to the covid epidemic, the Supercup between the two clubs (Club Brugge was national champion) was not played.
KV Mechelen may not have a Belgian Supercup in their closet yet, but they do have the European one. They won this in 1989 against PSV after beating Ajax in the European Cup II in 1988.

As a player, Van Bommel can put no fewer than six Super Cups on his palmares. He won this four times with PSV, twice with FC Barcelona and once with AC Milan. He lost the Supercup once, with PSV, which brings me to six out of seven.
