Antwerp Pride sharp for Eddy Demarez: “That shows the importance of the Pride today” | Inland

Demir concerned about wood from abroad for Ghent biomass power plant: “Do we have to cut down the Russian taiga to burn it in our own backyard?”

Flemish Minister for Environment and Energy Zuhal Demir (N-VA) has serious questions about the wood flows from Siberia, Chile and Canada, which together account for one and a half million tons of wood, which would be burned in the biomass power station Rodenhuize in Ghent. She says she is also concerned about reports of corruption, exploitation, illegal logging and the destruction of biotopes and animal species. “The minister judges that she has too few certainties to simply approve the wood flows, and evokes the file to the level of the Flemish government,” says her cabinet.
