Two explosions rocked Antwerp in the early hours of Sunday night. First there was an explosion in Deurne, later a grenade exploded under a parked car in Borgerhout. The local police in Antwerp confirms this. No injuries were reported in the two incidents.
The Kerkhofweg in Deurne was startled by a loud bang around a quarter past three. The judicial lab and DOVO came to the scene and investigated the facts. “This is certainly not a grenade. What it was is still being investigated”, says Sven Lommaert of the Antwerp police. “When the teams were at work in Deurne, they reported an explosion in Godtsstraat in Borgerhout, so they immediately went there.”
