Antwerp and OHL competed this Wednesday evening for a place in the semi-final of the Croky Cup. The Great Old won with a score of 2-3.
Under the eyes of a Arthur Vermeeren promoted for one evening…responsible for the equipment (you can’t make this up), Antwerp had a very eventful start to the match.
From the 2nd minute of play, Youssef Maziz opened the scoring for OHL with a magnificent lofted shot. The Great Old reacted immediately, with Janssen who scored a double (8th sp, 18th – with a long shot) and put Antwerp in control.
Antwerp got scared against OHL
In the second half, Antwerp hit the nail on the head, via Van den Bosch (54th). Everything seemed under control, but Antwerp will scare themselves at the end of the match. At the 80th, Mathieu Maertens made it 2-3 after receiving a cross. Janssen will be sent off in stoppage time for two yellow cards.
OHL pushed to equalize at 3-3, but it was ultimately Antwerp who advanced to the semi-finals. The Great Old can still believe in a second consecutive coronation in the competition.
