“After the search of 23 July, new elements have emerged in the judicial investigation, including by reading the computer material,” said spokesman Kristof Aerts of the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office. The prosecutor will not disclose what exactly was found on, for example, the man’s laptop or mobile phone.
“The 51-year-old from Antwerp was confronted with this and brought before the investigating judge on 20 September. He has decided to release the man under strict conditions,” the prosecutor’s office confirms. What those conditions are is not specified.
The man was officially charged with raping minors. “The judicial investigation is continuing,” said Aerts. If it is decided to bring the file, once completed, to the criminal court, he risks a prison term of many years.
Questionable chat room
