Antti Holma started the popular in autumn 2022 do you want to be a millionaire – as the host of the quiz show. Now it’s been several years as a host of the program and the new season starts again next Saturday.

Holma says that filming the program is still as exciting as it was during the first episodes.

– Sometimes I even have to restrain myself because I’m a presenter. In that role, you should certainly be matter-of-fact and guide that competitor. It is still the kind of work project that is always exciting. I’m not excited for myself, but for their competitors. It’s quite strange, because usually I’m nervous specifically because of myself, Holma describes to Iltalehte.

Holma says that there is really no way to prevent the tension directed at the other person.

– In this season too, I was sweating so hard at times! I felt that a drop of sweat was starting to run down my chest. Maybe that tension is also the thing that makes the atmosphere so good, he reflects.

Medicines to help

Holma arrives for filming in Finland from her home in Los Angeles, USA. One thing that makes it difficult to orientate yourself in the filming is jet lag, i.e. the stress of the time difference.

– I have very specific medication before filming. I schedule myself with sleeping pills. From then on, as the flight approaches, I start to change my rhythm and wake up earlier. On the plane, I take half of the medicine, put the patches on my eyes and try to sleep, even if I don’t. Finland then has its own precise routines, Holma describes.

Holma says that there is another complicated thing about traveling to Finland. Holma has often become sick because different diseases are spreading in Finland and the United States.

– I have been sick on the set of two production seasons. Then there was Burana in one pocket and cough lozenges in the other pocket. If there is a flu season in Finland, and especially a different flu than here, I always get it, Holma sums up.

– I claim that I have not noticed the pain, but it has required quite a bit of doping. I think that next time I will come to the filming in the familiar white onesie from the corona era or isolate myself so that I don’t get diseases! Holma concludes with a laugh.
