The author of the song “Freedom” is Second Stafecka, which arranged the arrangement together with Kristaps Krievkalns, but the author of the text is Ilze Mūrniece, the mother of Anta Stafecka. The National Guard Orchestra, conducted by Andis Karelis, the Chief Conductor of the National Armed Forces and the Chief of the National Guard Orchestra, the Stars National Choir under the direction of Ārija Šķepasts, the senior National Guard, as well as guitarist Jānis Čubars, also participated in the recording of the song.

Scenes from the video “Freedom” were taken in significant places – the Riga Brothers’ Cemetery and the Latvian National Museum of Art, as well as footage from the November 11 torchlight processions in various Latvian cities.

“The filming locations have not been chosen at random. The Riga Brothers’ Cemetery is an outstanding memorial ensemble to commemorate and honor our Freedom Fighters. However, at a time when we all miss the cultural life so much, we chose the Latvian National Museum of Art. five years since the building was reopened after reconstruction.

The National Guard Orchestra was founded on November 1, 2011. It is a separate unit of the National Guard, which includes a brass band, big bands, the “Stars” choir and various chamber ensembles. The task and mission of the National Guard Orchestra is to musically design the ceremonies of the National Guard and the National Armed Forces, to popularize the National Guard in society, as well as to take care of the spiritual and cultural well-being of the Latvian people by providing listeners with artistically high-quality, creative and inspiring concerts. The head of the National Guard Orchestra is the chief conductor of the National Armed Forces, Captain Andis Karelis.

On August 23 of this year, the National Guard celebrates its 30th anniversary. Conviction about the need for a people’s self-defense organization arose during the 1991 barricade days. During these years, the National Guard has become the numerically largest structure of the National Armed Forces and the basis of national defense. The National Guard enables the citizens of the Republic of Latvia to voluntarily serve their country, taking care of its security. The central event of the 30th anniversary of the National Guard is planned for August 21 in Jelgava with the debts of all National Guard units and technical units, if the epidemiological safety situation allows it.
