United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken confirmed information that the White House is close to a decision to provide ATACMS missiles to Ukraine.
Washington is likely to soon announce a decision to provide Ukraine with long-range ATACMS missiles. Preparations are underway for the transfer of these weapons to Kyiv.
This was stated by United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken at a joint press conference with his colleague from Germany. transmits “European truth”.
The minister said that the transfer of such weapons as ATACMS to Kyiv requires very serious preparation and coordination of a large number of factors. The process appears to have already started.
“Ukrainians must be able to use them effectively. Also, new complex systems require maintenance, and, of course, we are doing this… They must fit into a holistic military program“, said the American Secretary of State.
He emphasized that the United States will not give permission for the use of ATACMS on Russian territory. However, the minister did not rule out similar incidents.
“They (Ukrainians) themselves must make decisions about what can be most effective in restoring their territorial integrity… How Ukrainians will use ATACMS is their business“,” Blinken said.
In mid-September, a number of influential American publications reported that the White House was close to a decision to give ATACMS to Ukraine. They announced this step in the near future.
ATACMS are surface-to-air missiles capable of hitting targets up to 300 km away. They are launched, among other things, by HIMARS rocket systems, which are in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Experts believe that new missiles can radically change the situation at the front. With their help, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to destroy military targets of the Russian Armed Forces throughout the depths of the occupied territories.
