António Costa guarantees that Portugal will deepen relations with Brazil – Politics

The Prime Minister, António Costa, thanked, this Tuesday, the state visit made to Portugal by the Brazilian President, Lula da Silva, considering that Brazil is back on the political and diplomatic levels and that bilateral relations will be deepened.

“Thank you very much for this visit, President Lula [da Silva]. Brazil is back and we are not going to let it go again”, wrote António Costa on his account on the social network Twitter, in a summary comment on the five days of presence of the Brazilian head of state in Portugal.

According to the prime minister, the last days of Lula da Silva’s visit “showed the friendship” that unites Portugal and Brazil and the effort to deepen bilateral relations.

“We share history and values, we have a common language, we bring the Atlantic closer together. We have everything to build an ever stronger relationship between Portugal and Brazil”, added António Costa.

On Saturday, António Costa and Lula da Silva signed 13 legal instruments of bilateral cooperation, from the economy and technologies to education and health, at the end of the 13th Portuguese-Brazilian Summit, which took place in Lisbon.

On Monday, the Portuguese Prime Minister and the President of Brazil attended an economic forum with businessmen from both countries, in Matosinhos, and flew an Embraer KC 130, which belongs to the Portuguese Air Force, between Porto and Alverca.

Together with the Portuguese head of state, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Lula da Silva and António Costa, they were together on Monday afternoon at the delivery of the Camões Prize to the composer, writer and singer Chico Buarque and this Tuesday, in parliament, at the welcoming session for the President of Brazil.
