Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur officially split. Both parties agreed to end the cooperative relationship.
Conte’s future at Tottenham has been buzzing with discussion since earlier this week. This was triggered by Conte’s angry attitude in the press conference after Tottenham’s draw with Southampton.
In that press conference, Conte made scathing criticism of the club. The Italian coach also called Tottenham’s players selfish.
Now, Tottenham and Conte are officially divorced. Tottenham will temporarily be led by Cristian Stellini with Ryan Mason as assistant.
“We announce that head coach Antonio Conte has left the club by mutual consent,” read a statement on Tottenham’s official website as seen Monday (27/3/2023) early morning WIB.
Tottenham is currently in fourth place Premier League standings with 49 points from 28 matches. However, Harry Kane et al. already eliminated from all cup competitions.
“We still have 10 games left in the Premier League and we face a battle for a place in the Champions League,” said Tottenham boss Daniel Levy.
“We all have to work together. Everyone has to raise the level to ensure the highest possible finish for our amazing and loyal club and supporters,” he said.
Antonio Conte was appointed as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur in November 2021 after Nuno Espirito Santos was sacked. Conte helped Tottenham finish in the top four in his first season.
